Golden Thrones Proclaimed: The Country's Best Public Restrooms Honored at the 2025 Oro Inodoro Awards
Coinciding with World Toilet Day, Maynilad Water Services, Inc., recognized the best public restrooms in the country at the recently concluded 2025 Oro Inodoro Awards.
This year, the Oro Inodoro Awards attracted entries from all over the Philippines after expanding its categories to Public Offices and Spaces, Hotels & Malls, Gas Stations & Transport Hubs, Schools & Universities, and Restaurants & Cafes, thereby allowing more eligible establishments.
The Valenzuela City Hall bagged two awards—the Grand Winner Award and the category award for Public Offices and Spaces—recognizing its efforts in providing its constituents with the best public restroom accessible to everyone on its premises.
“Ang pagkilala na ito ay patunay ng ating pangangalaga sa kalinisan, kaayusan at dignidad ng bawat Valenzuelano na gumagamit ng ating mga pampublikong pasilidad,” Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” T. Gatchalian said. “Sa Valenzuela, naniniwala kami na ang malinis na palikuran ay simbolo ng maayos na pamahalaan.”
Special distinctions were also awarded to establishments such as Casa Elmira, a Parañaque-based restaurant, which received the Banyo Para Sa Lahat award for its restrooms that cater specifically to the needs of people with disabilities and various gender expressions. Meanwhile, the One Ayala UV Terminal, a major transport hub in Makati, received the Banyo ng Bayan award—the equivalent of the People's Choice award—based on social media votes among all the entries.
The Awards accepted nominations from netizens through the Kubeta PH Facebook page, with finalists undergoing rigorous screening and audited by a panel of experts from across Maynilad's divisions, including the Waste Management Department, Engineers, and Inspectors.
Winners and finalists were awarded at a formal ceremony held at the Conrad Manila on November 19, with the Grand Winner selected from the five category winners, taking home P30,000, while the other four category winners received P10,000 each. Winners of the Banyo Para Sa Lahat and Banyo ng Bayan awards were also given P10,000 each.
“To all our nominees and winners: Your restrooms may seem like modest spaces, but the discipline, creativity, and care you demonstrated have a big impact,” Maynilad’s VP for Corporate Affairs and Communication Marie Antonette De Ocampo said. “You show that it is possible to create clean, safe, inclusive, and sustainably managed facilities for your patrons—even under high foot traffic, even with limited resources. This is what leadership in sanitation looks like.”
Formerly known as the Golden Kubeta Awards, the revamped Oro Inodoro Awards by Maynilad serve as the definitive benchmark for sanitation excellence across public restrooms nationwide, reinforcing vital public health standards and actively contributing to global development goals on water and sanitation.
